Many of the hothouse talks I end up going to, I don’t blog about. Purely because nothing said in them is particularly memorable or resonates with me in any way so I just forget to do it. However this week’s talk was with Lakwena and it was by far my favourite talk of the year. The reason being, she seemed to just be herself when presenting and tried to engage with the audience which was engaging but also she was very realistic in talking about how she got to where she is now and what she did after leaving university.
I liked the way she showed not just examples of her work but also things that have inspired her, which was helpful in seeing her influences and interests that have formed her style.
I felt assured that it’s okay to not know why you’re doing some of the things you’re doing now but to ensure that you always push yourself, work hard, get your work out there and never turn down any good opportunities. Always say yes, Even if you have no idea how to solve the brief. It’ll push you to figure it out.
